A Candle against the Darkness Facilitator: Bob Copeland
Recent events show that the U.S. has not yet erased the legacy of slavery. Long
before most white Americans saw any problem with it, Reformed Presbyterians took an uncompromising and unpopular stand against Slavery and its evil twin, Racism. This course explores the biblical and other reasoning behind RP actions, and

traces the anti-slavery activism of Covenanters from the Colonial period through
the stages of the Abolitionist movement, the Underground Rail Road, and the Civil
War. It draws on extensive research by Dr. D. Ray Wilcox and Dr. Robert Copeland,
both of Geneva College.
